Fracking

 

Definition: Also known as hydraulic fracturing, it is a process by which wells are stimulated to release natural gas using pressurized liquid, which contains sand and chemicals. It’s a highly controversial process that has several environmental impacts, such as groundwater contamination, freshwater depletion, pollution, and possibly triggering earthquakes.
