Environmental Racism
Definition: Placing low-income or minorities in locations that are environmentally hazardous or polluted. It can also occur in reverse, where environmentally hazardous conditions or pollution is created in a location known for low-income or minority residents. It is speculated that corporations target low-income or minority communications because of their lack of political power.
Conversely, Not In My Backyard(NIMBY) defines those residents with political power that can oppose proposals for their neighborhood. Other similarly ridiculous names exist as well, such as BANANA(Build Absolutely Nothing Anywhere Near Anything) and PIBBY(Put in Blacks' Back Yard).
